Busy Works Beats is a web series that gives producers step by step visual tutorials on how to create music in the style of the some of the biggest contemporary producers.  Although they mainly discuss how to make music in FL Studio, the concepts that they teach are what is important and they do a great job of breaking down intricate concepts for everyone to follow.  That is why I have added a lot of their videos to the database, but also to help them gain more views from producers, because the quality material that they put out deserves it.  If you are someone who wants to learn to create hip hop music, especially in FL Studio, Subscribe to and support Busy Works Beats!

Here are some of my favorite tutorials that they have created:

This is a really great, in-depth explanation of music chord theory and how to create different chords in a DAW.  For anyone without classical music experience, who is a bedroom producer like myself, this is really good video to watch.

This is one of the first videos I watched from Busy Works Beats that introduced me to their training and style.  Busy Works Beats goes over how to create chords from notes in FL Studio using a piano roll (that you can find in most DAW’s).  This is how I first learned how to create chords without having to use a midi controller.

One of the things that I really like about Busy Works Beats is that they are up on the production techniques.  The “Drake sound” is one of the most iconic and replicated in today’s music.  Although I am an Ableton user – this video helped me to breakdown the techniques and tactics used to emulate the types of sounds that Drake’s producers use to craft his music.  From pitching to low pass filters, this video will give you a sense of how to recreate the sounds that are being used heavily in today’s music.

Additionally, this is a great video to add to learning about the Drake sound:

Trap seems to be the most popular style of music in hip hop today.  The snare rolls and triplet hats are spreading through all genres of music.  This video is an excellent tutorial on how to create the trap sound – where to place the snares and kicks, how to craft the Trap melody and basslines, and how to create movement throughout the song.

What I love about Busy Works Beats is their tutorials on contemporary artists, but also that their videos are long and in-depth.  They really take the time to walk you through the concepts of how a style or a song is made so that you can easily replicate it on your own.  Their videos are professional and easy to understand.  If you want to learn about hip hop production, and especially if you use FL Studio, Busy Works Beats is a much watch – Subscribe and Support them!
